Focus Area

City region food systems

A City Region Food Systems (CRFS) approach aims to foster the development of resilient and sustainable food systems within urban centres, peri-urban and rural areas surrounding cities by strengthening rural-urban linkages.

RUAF and FAO, have developed a toolkit that provides guidance on how to assess and build sustainable city region food systems.

RUAF and FAO are currently working on strengthening attention for climate change and gender in CRFS approach.

With FAO and the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact, RUAF has developed a set of indicators.
