Convened by FAO, GAIN, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments and the Food Systems Summit Secretariat, the Global Summit Dialogue: Empowering Cities and Local Governments to improve food systems globally aims to bring political attention and promote significant actions and commitments towards sustainable urban food systems transformation.
The event, taking place digitally on Monday 28 June, is a part of the series of Food Systems Summit Dialogues, a core component of the 2021 Food Systems Summit engagement process. This Dialogue brings together local governments representatives and urban food systems stakeholders to discuss their role in food systems and how they can strengthen their collaboration to scale up actions to achieve sustainable urban food systems.
The First Objective of the Dialogue is to share the results of consultations and independent dialogues at city level that have between April and June 2021. The main takeaways from those city-led dialogues will be brought to the attention of the decision makers for further discussion and integration into the FSS process including Pre-Summit and Summit Event.
The Second Objective is also to unpack bottlenecks and facilitate an evolution of solution clusters that are relevant to and implementable by the stakeholders of urban food systems.
