‘Validating the City Region Food System Approach: Enacting Inclusive, Transformational City Region Food Systems’ is published in Sustainability 2018, as part of the Special Issue Assessing the Sustainability of Urban Agriculture. This article offers a critical assessment of the evolving City Region Food Systems (CRFS) approach.
It reflects on:
- City Region Food Systems merits compared to other approaches;
- The operational potential of applying the City Region Food Systems approach to existing projects through case analysis;
- How to make the City Region Food Systems approach more robust and ways to further operationalize the approach; and
- The potential for the City Region Food Systems approach to address complex challenges including integrated governance, territorial development, metabolic flows, and climate change.
