This report was prepared by the RUAF member organisations ETC and IWMI for the Food and Agriculture Organization. The report reviews available research data on the profitability and sustainability of (intra- and peri-) urban agriculture in cities in Africa and Asia mainly. The report also analyses important gaps in the available data and important challenges for future research on the socio-economic aspects of urban agriculture.
